Great Article on why 5.1 is quite enough for most Home Theaters. I'm soon going with a smaller set up soon (moving) and am now actually looking forward to the smaller footprint. One interesting point the author states is: "Why would you want your rear channel speakers to outnumber your front and center channels."

I think for my situation 5.1 will do just fine thank you.

I've always felt that 5.1 was enough. Most of the action is up front anyway. Second (some may argue first) is LFE, and then the surrounds really. I think the height and wide stuff is getting a little out of hand too.

Perhaps you may argue LFE maybe first? Nice pair of SVS!

7.1 is superior in the right environment and setup. A good 7.1 track can be an amazing thing to experience. Most tracks are still 5.1 though.
