Finally got around to taking some picture of the dorm setup. I figured I might as well just start a new topic for it, lol.
I now have the new addition of a Marantz 6001 receiver to my system :D

Desk:
Harman/Kardon AVR 235
Monitor Audio BR1 bookshelfs

"Theater" (if I can call it that, lol):
Yamaha NS A100XT tower speaker mains
Infinity Primus PC250 center channel
JBL Sub
Some alright Koss surrounds

That's my best friend, not my roommate. My roommate is much fatter XD

The Wii sensor bar looks sweet, I didn't even think about the fact that my camera would pick up the IR light from it when I took the shots.

What do you guys thinks? Any suggestions for me?

Wow, that brings back memories. My dorm room was really similar. Did the carpet come standard, or did you or your roommate bring it (I had to bring my own)?

Nice anime girl/cat photo, btw. :D Excellent gear, too!

I love it, and I got a steal of a deal on it. My roommate liked my monitor so much too that he ended up getting the same one.

P.S Princess Mononoke is the worst anime movie of all time.

My roomate showed me it, and I fell asleep.

WOW. My dorm room looks like crap compared to yours lol. How much did all of that cost you when you put it all together?

Your neighbours must hate you.
Nah, I rarely blast it, and my neighbors are all either pretty cool or never there.

:O
How could you say that?!?

That movie is f-ing amazing. Easily one of my favorite movies ever... Maybe you should try it again. It's truly a masterpiece. It's the little details of that movie that make me love it. Also, if you've ever done animation before, I think it might be easier to be utterly flattened by this movie, as everything is done by hand, and it's so detailed it's amazing.

My roommate's parent's are rich so he spoiled, so that's how we have all three systems. I personally only have a Wii.
half of the computer was kind of a graduation present, as I am a Multimedia Design major (I don't like macs) and I need something with some muscle behind it to handle large image files and video editing.
Besides my girlfriend and food, really all I have spent my money on in the last year audio.
I've gotten some pretty good deals, though. The yamaha's were only $120 off of craigslist, I got the sub from my roommate's dad for $50 (my roommate is so pissed about this because he would have gotten it for free if I hadnt have bought it), the infinity center was $70 on ebay, and the Harman Kardon receiver was $200 on ebay. The Koss surrounds are old and I took them from my old home theater in a box.
The monitor audio speakers were a Christmas present, which I got at Flanner's, solely for the the reason that I am planning on upgrading them to the RS1's over summer. The Marantz is brand new, I got it from a new local dealer for $350, which I though was a pretty darn good deal.
The TV I got on Black Friday of 2007, I think it was only $500 at the time.
Electronic wise, this setup has cost me personally around $1500. Looking at that number right now makes it seem like a lot (for a student, at least). But I've never really thought about how much I spent on this hobby as whole, I've just generally looked at how much money I have before I make a purchase, not the that I've spent. If anything I can thank my Dad, he made me save all the money I got from relatives since I was 10 until I got to college. XD

That's a very nice dorm room.
I like your taste in animation. Princess Mononoke is a wonderfull movie, as is Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away :)

So I tried to watch Princess Mononoke again last night, and I found out what I needed to get through the movie....alcohol...and it was still terrible.

The animation is so primative, and the characters are so lifeless and flat. Even the action sequences are boring.

1/2 star.

Sorry man, I am with Ito on this one. Princess Mononoke is one of my favorites from Miyazaki. I am a fan of most of his films though :D Naussica, Totoro, The Cat Returns / Whisper of the Heart, Castle in the Sky, etc... I have a copy of Tales of EarthSea, but can't watch it because it has no subtitles.

Nice setup by the way.

I'm sorry to hear that....but I disagree 100% But in all seriousness, I think I feel the exact opposite that you do for every point that you made :D

But hey, you gave 2 tries, so I can't say that you never tried, lol.

Hahahahahahaha...................niiiiice!! Back in my day, dorm and 'HT/Audio setup' didn't compute. Ooooooh how times have changed!!

When I was in college in the mid-late '80s, a small <20" was the norm....if that!! Most kids didn't even bother to watch TV. I mean c'mon....the drinking age was only 19 back then....so why watch TV, right? It was either study time.....or we were off to the bars. LOL

Very few had nice HiFi components because they'd probably get stolen. (you could force a locked door open with a small shove)

I managed with a boom box and a 12" B&W TV with rabbit ears....................LOL

Oooooooh the memories are flooding back!!

Nice dorm setup!! In my day, ooohhh...........things were very different.

Nice use of space, when I lived in my dorm (early 90's) me and my roomie (had a thing for asian women and only asian women) anyway we never had a TV, but I brought my huge Pioneer rack system with huge speakers. Needless to say so did everyone else on my flloor, so we would have stereo wars that could be heard across the quad and disrupt classes. Needless to say our floor had many a visit from campus police. Didn't have a TV, but i managed to smuggle in a refrigerated pony keg system and kept it hidden under the bed. Only way to replace the keg every week was to exchange the kegs at 4 am when everyone was alseep. Me and my buddy got real good at late night covert operations. Great job BTW wish I hd something like that back then, but between the beer, TV, work and school, I'd have to give up sleep and women.

Nice setup,my dorm room looked the same, physically, but we were allowed a clock radio and a hot plate......that was it. This post will date me but I hope your room makes you feel at home. Give it your best shot!

How do you like those Yamaha mains? There is a pair on craigslist near me for $75 and I was thinking about using them for my dorm.
