The Abyss is great as a musical sub in that it is quick and what I describe as tactile. It (for me) is accurate and does have good output on film as well. I don't think it can match "the twins" though. I had all at the same time, a Velodyne SPL1000R, SVS SB12 Plus and my original Klipsch RSW12. I was looking to improve on the Klipsh and did. The SVS was good but like the other two seemed (for lack of a better description) like what you hear in cars that rattle as opposed to what the MK did. It also blended better with the MA RS8

Nice set-up, that's a big collection of DVD's/Cd's. I'm thinking around 750+?
With that many you should consider looking it to a media server. I have around 380 DVD/CD's in my collection, and use an Escient DVDM 100 & a 400 disk player to control/view them on. The Escient get all the information & cover art for every movie/cd in my player. I'm able to find a specific DVD in a hurry, sort through all of my comedies, or visually search through all of the covers, right from the sofa & thru the t.v. No more going thru countless boxes/jewel cases & inserting into the player.
Good luck next year.

Again thanks, the Samsung 67" dlp with led as opposed to a bulb has killed it. I had it isf calibrated and couldn't be happier. To add the funny thing is the Onkyo does so well in upconverting that a side by side DVD vs the Ps3 has barely any difference. ( at least to most who have viewed) Also the calibration was through BB Geek squad, I validated all the tech's credentiald and it was only $299.00, less than anyone else here in AZ
