Dolby Digital v Dolby Digital +?

Does anyone know the difference between Dolby Digital and Digital +? Pros v Cons? Any first hand experience.

It looks to me like Digital + is just a little richer solution, but I wanted to ask some experts.

I have once read someone quoting FilmMixer (yeah, a pro who has mixed the tracks to movies you have already seen), that DD+ is something like +99% of lossless. IOW, scientifically, it is a much superior codec to vanilla DD.
