Dolby Digital Live Encoding Difference?

Hi everybody,
I hope someone here can help me with this:

I am currently looking for a soundcard for my new pc. Dolby Digital Live is a must, and since I'll only be connecting the card to my receiver via digital connections it's really the only thing that matters: I dont care about the analog-outputs or any special features (dolby headphone, virtual speaker etc) - this is all taken care of by the receiver.

Now where I live (Switzerland) there are different cards available providing dolby digital live. There are those cheap ones from Terratec (link: sounden.terratec.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=427) or Club 3D (link: w w w.club3d.nl/index.php/products/theatron/item/12 ) and there are more expensive ones such as the Asus Xonar D2 (link: usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=25&l2=144&l3=0&l4=0&model=1769&modelmenu=2 ).

Now is there a difference in the signal quality of the dolby digital live stream comparing these different cards, or is it just in terms of analog-outputs and features that the price-difference becomes clear?

Obviously I'd gladly save the money and go for a cheap card if the Dolby Digital Encoding is the same anyway...

Thanks in advance for all your responses!

PS: Sorry 'bout the links. Board didnt want me to put those in :)

I believe all DD Live cards use the same DD Live encoding chip so I don't believe there would be any difference. Since you are not using the DACs on the card I wouldn't worry and just get the cheapest on tha thas the features you want.
