Is the display window gonna say Dolby Atmos when playing? I just watched HackSaw Ridge , rented from redbox. Which I thought was a Dolby Atmos Bluray. Not sure if it was , I may not have been in the correct mode?

I also thought Gravity was a Dolby Atmos bluray, I read the box and no where on it said Dolby Atmos? Did not purchase it.

All kinds of confused ???????

I'm set up for Atmos !

An Atmos BD will explicitly read "Atmos" on the back label. I've found, as you have apparently, different mixes of the same movie. I just assume Redbox will always offer the lesser mix, which will not be the Atmos version, so I don't hold out hope there. Personally, being a bit of a cheapskate, I wait for holiday sales and pick up a few.

I'm rite there with ya! I refuse to pay $20 + for a blu ray movie. I stop by some local pawn shops for blurays on the cheap. Pick them up for $3 bucks. Just Limited on selection. Still haven't found an Atmos BD YET.

Looking at the disc choices at Amazon, the standard blu-ray of Gravity is in DTS-HD MA (and is $8.99), the Diamond Luxe edition is in Dolby Atmos (this disc set is $64.99). Some studios have limited audio in their releases for rentals, sometimes you don't even get the lossless codec.

You bought Atmos now they expect you to pay more for content!

Less and less Blu Rays are coming out with Atmos/DTS:X soundtracks.

Another way of pushing consumers into upgrading and buying 4K Blu Ray content

I've never had an issue getting atmos from redbox, and I've seen lots of new movies with atmos. Dolby makes a lot of money off of it after DTS hd ma became the most popular bluray audio they've really lost out on the home theater side of things, so I expect them to keep pushing it.

I'm not gonna be happy if they start trying to force 4k by not including the best audio on regular discs, I have no interest in it because it's pointless unless you've got a massive screen or sit like 2 ft from the tv.

If the movie you're watching doesn't support atmos, you can just use dolby surround, it actually does a pretty good job with most movies.

Just watched my first BD Atmos movie. Rented Mad Max Fury Road from Redbox. The movie was pretty good, the sound was awesome, not sure I picked up a lot of overhead sounds. If I did they blended in well.

The attached picture of my 3060 doesn't show the above speakers or height speakers in the display ? Is this normal?

Thanks!!

Looking at your display pic, it looks like the heights are on. But the surround backs are not? If you are running 11 speakers aka 7.2.2 then they should be. Have you got surround back channels turned on in speaker setup

The display looks like 5.2.4. It references fpl,fpr etc for front presence l/r. Same for rear.

I don't mind paying for a new BD title if it's the right one. However, the pawn shop is great for slightly older disks. Do it all the time.
