Dolby Atmos home theater setup

We're looking to install a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 sound system. Unfortunately, our ceiling in the living room is 18ft high. We're willing to install in ceiling speakers, but I don't know how those would do with that high of a ceiling. I know in the theaters, they're at that hight, but this is for home use. If people think it'll work, can someone reccomend a wireless transmitter ? My thoughts were to transmit a signal upstairs and then run them through an amp to the speakers. Power is no issue, but running speaker cables would be difficult if not impossible.

I think it level work just you need to make sure height speakers get more power . Most amplifier have auto equalizer though that you can adjust later on. Audyssey xt32 is gone?
2 -You Possibly can put heights on side walls if you can face them toward listening positions.

Pretty sure 18’ is gonna be a problem. Iirc Dolby lists 14’ as the top of the range. I would consider pendant speakers first of all but if you don’t want to snake wires, high on the side walls for the rear heights and up of the front wall for front heights.

Also, I would find a tv mount that lowers it for viewing and the raises back into place. Iirc, they’re not super expensive. What are your plans for the bed layer?

We’ll have to see about the mount. It’s already on a swivel mount sticking about 10in out because of how the mount was done, but it has to come off either way to put the new system in. I’m not entirely sure what we’re gonna use for our bed layer, my father always liked Boston acoustics, but I’ll be sampling a few different brands. I’m always open to suggestions

I think commercial Atmos/Auro3D sucks probably because the ceiling speakers are so far away and they don’t crank up the levels of those ceiling speakers.

My ceiling is 14FT, and I have to boost the Ceiling speaker levels to get good sound.

If you install on 18’ ceiling, make sure the speakers are 8” drivers with best sensitivity (90dB/w/m or more),power rating of 150-200W, and crank up the levels.

Now, does this mean the receiver needs to be capable of putting 150watts per channel? Is the best way to use an external amplifier and the preamp outputs? Or is it actually to find a reciever that will do that?
