does vga carry component?

hi there i hope somebody can help me here. i am fairly new to electronics. i have just purchased a benq 6100 and a zinwell briteview scaler. my question is i was told in a review that the component input has to be fed through the vga port and the component output from the scaler is through the vga port. does a vga lead carry component? when i am reading about them is says they carry rgb. i need a lead about 10 m long how much do i have to spend to get a decent lead?thanks ............

Component Video to VGA

You can buy component video to VGA converters all over the place - they're easy to find through a websearch - but if you've got a lot of distance to cover, try running component video through CAT5 cable to the VGA connector. I built them and they work like a charm. Just make sure you use good connectors.
