Does this receiver work for a separate amp

Will the Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver allow me to use a separate amp without having to buy a pre-amp? If not, which receiver would within this price range?

Get yourself an Onkyo 705 or 805 on closeout. Much better than the 606 for around the same price.

Please excuse my ignorance.... would i need a pre amp if i bought the Onkyo 705 and a Behringer EP2500? Or would the Onkyo work as the preamp?
