Does this mini DSP make the signal stronger from my rca sub pre outs?

I just got a Crown XLS 2500 amp. It doesn't have the option to change signal strength like the new 2502. I got the 2500 for $300 is why I bought it. I need to boost the signal because its not giving enough volume even with gains all the way up on the amp and the AVR. I have an RCA going from sub pre out to the 1 input on the Crown and then bridged the amp. Speaker wire from 2 middle terminals (bridged) to the sub. If I buy a mini DSP would it boost the signal so I can turn down all my gains and the volume will be louder on the subwoofer. I also want the DSP for a subsonic filter.

Thats a discontinued model designed strictly for pro-audio applications. And doesn't have the switchable input sensitivity switch(0.775 mV & 1.4V),U should return it and get a Crown amplifier that does. Many consumer AVRs and preamplifier/controller have a lower preamp output voltage(only 0.775mV),and don't have enough gain to drive the subject Crown amplifier to its rated output..

Just my $0.02... ;)

But I also want a subsonic filter.

You could also use a line level control box to go from unbalanced (rca) to balanced (xlr)
I use one for my Yamaha p5000s amp that I’ve used for my tuba subs and works great
Parts express has them for under 30 dollars

I need a subsonic filter because I don't want my sub to blow. I am running 2400 watts to a 2000 subwoofer tuned at 20hz. If I have it up loud and it hits a 10hz tone in a movie I could bottom out my sub and ruin it.

Hmm..
2400 watts thats a lot of power... o_Oo_O

Just my $0.02.. ;)

It’s not how much power or sound you make
It’s how well the sound is being reproduce

It’s quality over quantity

You can call PE and ask them for a capacitor that you can run in line on the positive lead of the subwoofer to block any frequencies under 16 Hz or 20 Hz or whatever so that you won’t hurt your sub

Wow I didn't think of that! Thanks carl!

IMHO...
Having enough output power is crucial but having low distortion is even more important...
@ high power levels, just a modest increase in THD and/or amplifier clipping will destroy any subwoofer regardless of brand and cost..

Just my $0.02.. ;)

I try to never push my sub to clipping.

Which minidsp? There are many different types/models, though as far as I know they don't "boost the signal" as such. They typically (not always, example: 0.9 V for the miniDSP 2X4) are rated 2 V output, that is quite common for D/A output. What are you using to drive the XLS 2500?

I am using my receiver sub pre out RCA to XLS 2500 RCA. Speaker wire from XLS to sub.

I think most avrs, Denon/Marantz for sure, have subwoofer output high enough for the XLS2500 and I highly doubt any miniDSP device could output higher. Still, which miniDSP you are referring to? If you can provide the model number, I (but then so can you) and take a look of the specs.

I called parts express and they said the mini dsp would not help with that issue.
