Does this cable exist (or how do I do this)?

I'm wanting to connect my ipod as well as TV to my speaker bar with RCA cable that I don't know exists or not. Obviously I would only be using either the TV or ipod at any given time.

I have included the following graphic which I hope is fairly clear. If this cable doesn't exist can anyone direct me on how to make this work please?

Thanks a lot!!!

You can't drive speakers with the output from an iPod. If the TV has seaker terminals, you may be able to use the iPod as a source and use the speakers, connected to the TV's speaker terminals. You would switch the TV to a different source to use the iPod as an audio source.

Thanks for your reply. I have plugged red and white RCA audio calbles into the speaker bar and plugged the 3.5 mm end into my ipod and it sounded great. I didn't have to switch a source as the TV was not on since the ipod was directly plugged into the speaker bar. I was just wondering if there is a way I can have the TV AND ipod plugged into the speaker bar at the same time without always having to unplug one to use the other.

This might seem like overkill but it will do what you want, which is to switch between audio sources, and more. It'll even handle component video which may come in handy later. I bought one of these at Walmart.

Simply plug th red/white ananog RCA jacks from your sources (Ipod, TV, whatever) into the input of this box and the box's output into the single input in the sound bar. Then, simply press whatever button summons the source you desire.

There's quite a selection of these devices on Amazon. For a page of similar items, click here.

Remember, all you really need is the red/white audio selection. Everything else is simply icing on the cake, but it doesn't hurt to have it.

Which speaker bar do you have? Make and model, please.

I have a Boston Acoustics TVee (model II) sound bar. The input selector suggested in the post above should work great. That should solve the problem I would think.

That only has one audio input on it which means that you do need the product listed by MarkW above, or something similar.

There are TONS of A/V switchers on the market from really cheap, to pretty darn expensive, but this is why a traditional A/V receiver is such a good way to go. Plenty of inputs for most people to get by just fine.
