Does the Onkyo 706 Have iPhone Support?

I'm wondering if anyone has had any experience hooking their iPhones up to their Onkyo 706 receiver?

Specifically, would it work on Onkyo's dock? I see that the new dock lists iphone support but it seems that it only works on the new Onkyo xx7 receivers

I realize I could get a ministereo - red/white aux stereo cable which would work for anything that has a ministereo/headphone port, but in my experience this degrades the sound quality.

Anytime I've listened to music from a laptop or iPod using a ministereo to red/white stereo cable and then listened to music using a optical cable or USB cable, the sound quality is much better and louder. Do you guys know what I mean?

I read some comments in a couple engadget-like news-sites and some people have stated that their iphones have worked in other 'ipod' docks even without the dock stating its support, and speculated that it will also be the case with this device.

...but if Onkyo states support for the iphone on their UP-A1, made for their X07 line of receivers, why not say it on this media center? I guess the big perk of getting one of the newest Onkyo receivers is the universal port, which the UP-A1 connects to, and seems to provide around the same SQ as a digital coax or optical cable.
