Does the Monitor60 have better sound than the Monitor70 (which to choose!?)?

Ive read many reviews that say the low end of the monitor70 is muddy. Is this at all true? Im torn on which to choose to pair with my CS2. I want to spend about what a monitor60 costs, but if the monitor70 is superior i will definitely buy it just so i dont go crazy later thinking 'what if.'

I primarily watch movies or play games, never really listen to music. I have a subwoofer (needs upgrading tho :D ). I do NOT have a receiver capable of attaching an amp, and the receiver puts out 130W per channel (7 channels). I'm not sure if power will be an issue. I never really go past 45 db (and thats with my current speakers which arent as good as these). Receiver is HT-R670 (almost identical to the Onkyo 606).

Thanks a ton!

no it is not muddy. i found them to have very very good bass.

power will not be an issue, they are very effecient.

only big difference between the two is bass response. monitor 70's dig nice and deep and do really well with LFE.

what kind of sub do you have? also the m70s are GINORMUS, so make sure you have the space for them.

If you will be running without a powered subwoofer, then by all means get the Monitor70 towers. Polk Monitors take alot of "unearned" hits on the web, mostly by folks who don't have them and consider price only, not their great value for the money spent. My 70's do not have a "muddy" response, and almost all of the owner reviews on many forums, like AVS, are excellent.

If you will be running a capable powered subwoofer, than get the Monitor60's because the low end will be totally handled by the subwoofer.

not sure why the monitor series has a bad rep anyways.

only recently have they been dirt cheap, if you were to pay full retail for the 70's you'd be paying almost 1000 a pair.

good luck ever finding a speaker you can as of recently get for 400 a pair that sounds that good. not gonna happen.
