Does The H/K AVR 340 Have Enough Juice?

I'm planning to use an H/K AVR 340 to power 2 JBL L880s, 2 L830s and an LC2, all from the Studio Series.

The AVR is rated at 55 Watts per channel @ <0.07% THD, 20Hz – 20kHz into 8 ohms with all (7) channels driven.

L880s: MFR: 30Hz–40kHz, ±3dB. Sensitivity: 91dB (2.83V/m). Nominal impedance: 8 ohms. Maximum recommended amplification: 200W. Power handling: 100W continuous, 400W peak.

L830s: MFR: 48 Hz - 40 kHz ± 3 dB, Sensitivity: 90 dB, Impedance: 8 Ohms Nominal, Maximum Recommended Amplifier Power: 150 Watts, Power Handling (Continuous/Peak): 75 Watts/300 Watts.

LC2: MFR: 50 Hz - 40 kHz ± 3 dB, Sensitivity: 92 dB, Impedance: 8 Ohms Nominal, Maximum Recommended Amplifier Power: 150 Watts, Power Handling (Continuous/Peak): 75 Watts/300 Watts.

My question: Is this a good match? Will this AVR be able to handle these JBLs? Does it have enough power to make these JBLs sing? I have also read in various places that even though the Studio Series are rated at 8 Ohms, they're actually closer to 6.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

A lot depends on your usage and how loud you want it to play.

Your sub will take over a lot of "heavy lifting" from the power amps and free them up for the rest of the range and, for HT, I'm sure it would play loud enough for me since not every channel is driven at all times.

If you get into stereo or multi-channel music, you may run into situations where several, or even all, channels are called upon to give their all simultaneously and, depending on how loud you listen to your music, it may or may not satisfy. Fifty-five watts doesn't really go too far if you really crank it.

sorry I can't give you a definitive answer here, just some things picked up over the years, but, just to be safe, I'd be looking for a bigger boat if I were you.

Receiver options

Nice speakers.
You might also consider one of the mid-fi Yamaha, Denon, or Pioneer models to deliver more than 100 Watts to your JBL, or maybe the Emotiva LMC-1/LPA-1 combo. I have seen some deals on a refurb Yamaha RX-V1600 for <$500 which is probably comparable in price to the HK.

My guess is, the L880s will do their best if you add an amp to that little 340, but the 340 should have enough power to make them sound reasonably well.
