Does new sub require new location in room?

I have been considering a new sub to upgrade my old Infinity RS sub I bough back in the early 90's. SVS looks to be the likely choice, either the SB12 or the PB12-NSD. The question is, while my current sub performs well in it's current location, will that location be the best location for a new sub? Just wondering....

The room is the determining factor, not the sub. So since you're not changing the room, the current sub location is preferred irregardless of sub choice.

However, different subs have different frequency response and will affect its room response. So, you start from a known location, where you had your old sub then you have to test and see.
