Does Downward Firing Sub have to be placed down?

Sorry for the newbie question. Setting up my home theater system and just got the sub. It's downward firing, but would fit better in my living room if I placed it on its side so that the downward speaker faces to the side.

Any problems doing this?

Try it, you might have some resonance problems and it will look funky...but trust your ear...no it shouldnt cause any pysical problems.

No problem doing this. But be careful, a lot of downfiring subs protect the woofer with the floor...and there's no grill or baseplate.
