Does anything have upconversion to HDMI yet?

Do any new receivers have upconversion of all video to HDMI? If not is this going to happen and when?

oh, I guess the new pioneer elite receivers do composite, s-vid, and component to HDMI. Thats cool, anyone have one of these yet?

The Yamaha RX-V2600 also does upconversion to HDMI.

The new JVC receiver RX-D702B is a more reasonably priced unit with (up)conversion of all analog inputs to HDMI (it uses the Faroudja's DCDi video chip in converting analog input signals, but I don't believe it performs upscaling):

The unit is just out, could be a value leader in HDMI receivers, if upconversion to HDMI is your main concern. No THX certification though, and you don't get the versatility of more conventional (and more expensive) receiver units:

I just bought a Pioneer VSX-72TXV -- one reason being the HDMI in-out as well as upscaling -- not to mention a s**tpot full of other great features.

One requirement of this unit is that any HDMI or DVI source must be HDCP compliant -- which I'm OK with since I don't plan to pirate any films, etc. Unfortunately my Comcast STB with DVI out is not HDCP compliant so I can't use the HDMI pass through quite yet -- must wait a few months for Comcast to upgrades their HDTV STB.

BUT -- in the meantime I am using the VSX-72 to convert component video from two sources -- the STB and DVD -- to HDMI output to my Panny 42" HDTV (1080i). I must say it "looks mahvalous, dahling." (That's my Billy Crystal impression in print.)

Bottom line -- yes the VSX-72/74 receivers do perform video upconversion to HDMI. I have only tried it with component inputs so far. This weekend I'll try an old VHS VCR with composite out and see how it looks. I'll post the results here.
