Does anyone on this site feel guilty

about spending what would (in the current economic climate) be considered an obscene amount of money on stuff that 99.9% of the world would consider a ridiculous indulgence? I sure don't, only because I can't really afford my habit. I suffer for my indulgences. Any other thoughts? Mea culpas?

To what are you referring? Okay, so I spent $16 on some Acai juice from Amazon today. It sounded tasty and different. Plus, another $28 on hot cocoa mix. Mmmm. Oh, and $20 on a Stone Temple Pilots DVD-Audio disc (thanks, Strube!).

I'm guessing that you're talking about A/V gear, though. :) I haven't spent much on that lately. In fact, I think that 99.9% of the world would consider my TV to be a relic from some bygone era.

Don't play coy...you know what I'm talking about. $2K for an amp? What's an amp? For ONE channel? What's that? Got any rice?

Which, if you don't mind? I'm always trying to find more ways to spend more money on delicious chocolate. Tried Schokinag?
I snagged some Ghirardelli white moca and chocolate moca. Amazon is having a sale on them. I haven't tried Schokinag, but I see that Amazon carries it. Hmmm.

Do I feel guilty? No. I buy all of my gear 2nd hand, used, etc. It's been years since I've purchased any "new" gear.

Some things are good for the soul. Music and art are two of them. Besides, not everyone spends an obscene amount. Some people buy and sell enough equipment that it actually has a net cost of zero dollars.

Yep....I get most of my gear used, open box, refurbed, or display model. This requires a much greater amount of patience than most other types of purchases, but the payoff is soooo worth it.

Hell, yeah, I feel guilty - for about 1 minute.:D

Then I think, "Hey, I workd hard, life is short, why not spend $3K on an amp?"

What can I say?

I'm an audioholic.:D

Oh, no arguments - European chocolate is fantastic. I'm planning on putting this stuff into coffee at work to make mochas, so I don't need the smooth (and high in fat) good stuff. :)

So true!

My mind at the grocery store: "45 cents for a candy bar? Are you effing kidding me?!? Okay, fine. But, you're breaking the bank, dude."

My mind at the SVS website: "Only $1400 for an Ultra? SOLD!" :D

It's against my code to take such a thread too seriously, but what are you going to do? Most of us were born into better conditions than 99% of the world will ever get to experience. But you consider this to be something to be ashamed of...

I don't see a reason for this shame. People all around the world, that don't have any money at all, are truly happy. If money = happiness, than sure, maybe I would feel guilty. But happiness comes from between your ears, not from your wallet. ;)
