HDMI and HDCP

Most HDMI sources include HDCP copy protection. If the source component (HDMI) does not get the propper handshake from the display (DVI) than the video will not turn on.

This should work just fine for you. There is another style of this type of adapter that has a male HDMI end and a female DVI end but the only difference would be if you already own a DVI cable and don't wish to buy an HDMI cable. Otherwise this'll get the job done.

Good point. The only times I have heard this happening lately are with some computer graphics cards since a lot of them were not designed for HDCP. That doesn't mean that it can't happen in other situations, just that this one is the most common that I know of.

thanks, i dont think i'll run into any HDCP problems. i want to run HDMI cables in the walls because they are cheaper and go longer distances, and they have smaller heads than DVI cables--easier to fish through.

But I planned to adapt from the source DVI to the HDMI cable, then back to DVI at the other end to plug into the monitor.

Thanks
