Hi, I just bought my first home theater setup for $500. I have everything in front of me (7.1 setup), but I don't want to hook the speakers up yet, because I'm afraid the mismatches in impedance and power output will destroy the speakers.
The receiver is a Denon AVR-2106, rated
100 watts@8ohms (this is what's found on most spec pages for the receiver),
125 watts @6ohms (I have no idea what this means.)
The FL & FR are Jamo C-401 bookshelf speakers, rated
80w cont./120w peak @ 6ohms
The Center is the Jamo C-400CEN, rated
100w cont/140w peak @ 6ohms
The Surrounds (4 of them) are Jamo C-400SUR, rated
80w cont./120w peak @ 6ohms
The Sub is a Jamo Down-Firing 250watt sub, and I doubt this will be a problem.
In general, I'd like to know if this would work without any depreciation in sound quality or distortion at any given volume level. Can 8 ohm receivers play 6 ohm speakers and can higher output receivers play lower output speakers, that kind of thing.
Specifically, I'd like to know whether or not the receiver can "switch" impedance levels, and whether or not its RMS rating is based on just A or B channel or both channels at the same time.
If I have to swap anything out, I'd like it to be the receiver, since it only cost me $100
The specs are from vann.com and wwstereo.com (where I got the speakers)
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
