I am trying to finalize me HT room, I presently have Klipsch RS 52, I wanted to know if I could use either the RS-42 or a bookshelf type speaker to finish up my room.

If I can mismatch, where should I place my rear speakers in a 25x13''6 room?

you can defenitly use bookshelves speakers for surrounds...thats what i did and i dont regret it...BUT...if and when i go 7.1 i will add surrounds designed for it to get a more envelopping sound for movies....but in my case right now i wanted something that can play low and be a good complement for 5 channel music listening...i said it many times i enjoy 5 channel '' EXT STEREO'' mode ;)

my mains are the same model line. but my side and rears are different brands. though they are of the same basic design = not horns or ribbons or whatever.
and my setup sound great.

pics of the room.

Yup, same brand and you can adjust output if there is any DB difference...having said that, it sounds like you are weighted toward HT vs music. Just my preference, but I prefer the Bi-Polar design of the RS series for HT and a direct radiator bookshelf unit for music....ideal position is on side walls about 6' high and just behind your listening area...I cant do that and mine on rear walls which would be the 2nd choice recommendation by most mfg.

Rear surrounds can be different as long as your side surrounds are on the side. But aesthetically it might look terrible so be cautious.

ok, so the RS -42 are on special right now, which one would go on the sides and which one would go at the rear ( RS42 pair and RS52 pair )...and yes this HT is designed and will be used specifically for movies.

The rear speakers will be approximately 6-8 feet behind the main seating because I will have a second elevated row of seats.
