They might outclip! ;)

If the gains match the amps, I don't see any problems.
Always nice to have adjustable gains, but I guess yours doesn't.
Check the "gain value" on your manual.

The input impedance should be high (desirable), and the ouput impedance should be low at the preamps output (desirable).

With an amp rated at 10 kohm (12 kohm even better) input impedance or more, it's a good sign of a greater match with more pre/pros or receivers with preouts. Same for a powered subwoofer.

An a low output impedance at the speaker terminals is also desirable.

Do you mean gains on the poweramp?

OK, the specs on my pre-amp and amplifier don’t seem to jive

The Pre says its output is 1.2v (200 Mv input)

The amp input impedance says 47K Ohm

Am I right in saying these two numbers are talking about to different things?

Would that be an internal adjustment? I never owned a preamp with outboard gain knobs.
No! Just the specs on your manual or from the bench tests. The output impedance, but on preamps it's not generally a problem (very rare actually). But on receivers, yes, it could very well be. And yes, the volume control (gain level) is directly affected by it.

And on the amps, you want a good input impedance with preferably a gain for each channel to match the pre-pro. And a high gain (input impedance) for some receivers with preouts.

Yes, you're right. One is about voltage and the other one is about impedance.
