I caved today and bought a PS3 and now I just have to wait until tomorrow to pick up my new 1080p LCD. I have a question about the cable though. My new TV is also an hdmi 1.3 tv so I was wondering if it would be better to get these cables from monoprice:

HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Cable (24AWG)

It is $15 more than the standard hdmi cable. Would these make any difference whatsoever?

Pretty sure any old HDMI cable should be able to do what you need. Sounds like a marketing gimmick to me...

Ahh ok guess I'll just go ahead and get the $5 cable then. Hey avaserfi, I was wondering since you have a ps3; it currently can't do truehd and dd+ right? All I have left to buy for the new setup is the new Denon AVR-1908 and was wondering if the hdmi receiver was even going to make a difference.

From my knowledge the only format that the ps3 cannot decode right now is DTS-MA everything else can be decoded internally and sent out via HDMI (LPCM). My only personal experience is with TrueHD which it did a fine job of decoding.

Not at 6 ft length. But, in the future, if you go to long cables, say 25ft or more, you need better cables, like that 24ga monoprice.
