Do I need more power?

Good evening,

I currently have an Onkyo TX-NR616 AV Receiver (100W per channel) and I just bought 2 Klipsch RB-81 II bookshelves (Power Handling: 150W RMS / 600W Peak)

Does this AV receiver have enough juice to adequately power these bookshelves or do I need to get another amp?

I was watching the beginning scene of Star Trek, and whenever a trumpet plays in the background, the sounds starts to crack/ becomes raspy. This happens with many movies/shows whenever I turn the volume up slightly.

I was running old Boston Acoustics A-60s; I'm not sure what the specs are, but the same situation was happening.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Those power figures are max unclipped ratings and mean very little, though cracking/raspy does sound like a potential power issue. Do you have a larger room and sit relatively far away from the speakers? Have you calibrated the speakers with the receiver?
