I just had my EMP e55ti speaker package installed yesterday and now a day later i've noticed that my left surround has a scratchy static noise coming from it. Its a faint sound but you can definitely hear it. Do i need to replace it, or is there another solution?

Without knowing what you have for a system, what you were listening to and how loud, it's impossible to answer your question.

i was watching tv and no matter what channel i changed it to i could hear it, even with the volume pretty low. i have a EMP 5.1 system w/ a yamaha rx-v667.

First thing I would do is put some test tones through the speaker from your receiver's test tone function. if it's a blown woofer it should sound as such.
Then just to be certain, I'd put that speaker on a different channel to see if it still sounds bad to make sure it's not the channel in the receiver that's the problem.

I'd try the speaker on a different channel next to make sure, but it does sound like a blown speaker.

as was said, swap the speaker with another. and check your cables on that channel.

If, after following the advice proffered in the two previous posts, the problem follows the speaker, arrange wit the supplier for a replacement to be sent.

The swap idea is the first thing that came to my mind.

How did the swap go?

Same thing happened to a speaker of mine, only on certain songs - looked more closely and cone had a slight tear. Good luck!
