DIY Subwoofer Driver Selection

I need some recommendations on drivers. My goal is a flat response from 20hz-60hz. I have a BFD so that can help tame any room modes. I'd be willing to do stereo subs, but from a space point of view, they'd have to have a relatively small footprint. However, a single sub could be quite large. I don't have an amp yet, but am leaning towards either the behringer EP1500 or A500 depending on the drivers chosen.

They'd be used 80% for music. What's out there that can give me a flat response to 20hz?

Thanks,
Nick

EDIT: I guess I should say that my room is about 14x20 and volumes wont be earbleeding levels, and normally quite tame.

You could go with one of the Dayton drivers at PE, but if you are using it for music I would stick with a 10" or 12" driver.

Probably a 12" if you want a flat response down to 20Hz.

I have a Adire Audio Shiva MKIV 12" driver that I am actually trying to sell. It is a great driver and will give a nice response down to 20Hz (it will even go below that depending on how you mount it)

If you are interested PM me.

But definately look around first before you decide on anything, I would check out the DIY subwoofer gallery on the HTGuide forum (they have a lot of good ideas and plently of knowledge).

Have fun!

If it's mostly for music, then you really dont need it to go down to 20Hz. a 3dB point of 28 or so should be fine. The Adire Audio Shiva will work in a sealed enclosure, as will the titanic. I would get some modeling code like win ISD pro or bassbox lite, and do some modeling before you decide on anything.

Take a look at Ascendant Audio. I whole-heartedly recommend them. For your purposes, an Arsenal 12" would probably fit the bill perfectly.
