DIY Speaker Isolation

Any DIY ideas to isolate speaker wallmount from the wall it's on. Want to reduce vibration / sound transmition of surround speakers from one side of the wall to the other. Thanks in advance.

Not being silly....

Is the "mount" a speaker platform directly connected
to a wall stud?

In this case head over to the local hardware store and
pick up some thick "fender washer" style rubber washers.

Twixt the dry-wall and wall mount plate
twixt the bolt head (below steel washer) and mount plate
- This isolates the fixing plate frm the wall...

I'd go as far as to do the same twixt the speaker and
the bracket it's fixed too as well...

If your hanging them as one would a picture
(using the rear of the speaker or a hook)

Find some foam peel & stick drawer liner (like what a
mechanic uses to line his snap-on roll around box drawers)

or some similar substance and try to place it twixt
the speaker and wall (affix to the rear of the speaker)

Literally de-couple the speaker from the wall...

Place said speaker in a mesh laundry bag large enough and strong enough to hold it. Use said bungee cord (see picture in previous post) to hang the filled bag from the ceiling using a plant hanger hook screwed into a joist (you may need a stud finder - my wife found one without one of those electronic marvels btw nudge nudge). The speaker wire should keep the bag from rotating and swaying to the beat, just make sure the weight is on the bungee.

Dont' laugh, I did this for my brother and two years later it still there working fine.

I have been waiting for a solution to hang a speaker from the ceiling.

and use a macremae (woven) PLANT HANGER
to hang thoe's speakers from....

Sometimes I wonder about you guys...

Bungee cord and a laundy bag... please that IS SO GHETTO!

At least a decent plant hanger looks a bit more tolerable
and was a very popular treatment for speakers in my
younger years ... but it was getto then....

But I imagine if I could have hung my tri-pan's I would
have... to keep in fashion.... NOT!

Gotta post a pic or two so we can see what
ya ended up doin'....

As I am not a pot smoking, dorm dwelling college student any suggestions of bungee cords or hanging bags is not pratical. I beleive I have found a solution in of all places a home decore magazine. A designer used pieces of floor to ceiling mdf cut with wavy edges to make a plain wall appear 3 dimensional. These pieces were painted the same colour as the wall and mounted at different distances away from the wall (inches). When viewed straight on the wall appears to have depth. I am going to try this with a few changes. Routered edges for a finnished look and a channel in the back to run speaker wire. I'll mount the wall brackets to the mdf and mount the mdf to the floor and ceiling allowing a couple of inches between it and the wall. Christmas holidays project. Will post pictures when and if this works out satisfactorly.

It was in a working garage (where mechanics work on you car- in his case, his limo business), not a living room.
