DIY Speaker Cables

It's been twenty years since I connected a receiver to speakers last so NO teasing.
The DIY speakers cable kit coming with my Aperion speakers have a banana plug connector for both ends.
The Marantz manual for the receiver (SR 4002) says to put naked wire in the terminal and tighten down (my least favored connection as it seems shoddy).
These are all standard binding posts on brand new equipment so my question is:
Can a banana plug be inserted into the binding post on the receiver or would spades be the second best option or do I have to go naked cable into the receiver?

It boils down to personal preference really, all three will give you a good connection. I prefer banana plugs for the ease of use.

I prefer to use bare wire connections because there is nothing between the connections and the wire to come loose. I also like it because it saves money versus buying connectors. The only thing is you have to be careful of is that a wire doesn’t cross another terminal during installation. My receiver had a terminal socket that is used to tighten the terminal caps really tight. None have come loose and I have moved the receiver in and out of its place at least a dozen times. My receiver does use spring clips to secure wires for the presence channels. One wire comes out easily. I bundled the wires using Velcro straps from Home Depot and I put a little slack in the presence channel spring clip wires to keep them pushing into the spring clip holes. If you are using very heavy gauge wire, it might favor use of connectors instead of bare wires, as making the bends and the close clearances between wire terminals could be a hassle.

If they're standard 5 way binding posts on the receiver - yes, you can insert the bananas directly.

Actually, it is the most secure connection of all. I recommend tinning the stripped and twisted wire ends with solder to make them strong and to prevent stray strands from causing shorts.

Yes banana plugs will work fine. They just aren't as strong and secure.

I prefer bananas for ease of connecting/disconnecting versus having to strip, twist, bend, and then screwing into the back of my receiver or speakers.
