I've seen several DIY projects to make your own projector.... Has anybody done this and how did it turn out? I saw one by Lumenlabs that seems to be pretty good... It had some really good reviews and looks pretty easy. Is it honestly worth the time and money to build your own?

Do you want quality, or do you just want a fun side project? It seems that for the money spent you do get decent results, but it won't compare to something like an InFocus SP4805 or an Optoma H27 which is a much easier solution... more reliable, better image, the right connectivity for your theater.

I would never replace my projector with a DIY version, but I may someday build one just for fun. For the kids or something - but never will it live in my theater. It is way to much of a compromise.

That answer is exactly what i was looking for.... I think it would be fun, but i dont want it to be a waste of time either, i know it wont make its way to the living room, but maybe worth keeping at least. thanks
