A buddy just sent me this link (below). It shows a sliding/rotating bracket system that allows access to the cables of enclosed components. Not cheap, but cool! Something to consider if you're building an "ultimate" entertainment center or rack. Presumably you can spec it to your builder as well.

I'm just getting more into woodworking (beyond the "MDF and a quart of Bondo" level). Evidently Rockler is a big cheese in woodworking tools & supplies. Site should be fun browsing at least.
