A pair of 11 year old TIC ASP120 outdoor speakers gave up the ghost. After replacing them with a new pair (improved BTW), I had a DIY project idea to repurpose some Sierra 1 components (tweeter, woofer & x-over) from a S1 to S2 upgrade I did a couple of years ago.
Took some engineering since S1 tweeter is larger than the TIC, S1 woofer is smaller than the TIC, and the S1 x-over is way larger than the tiny one inductor/one capacitor from the TIC.
Removed the 70V transformer and selector switch to make room for the S1 x-over.
Pics below.
SQ tests revealed plugging the TIC port with a foam plug sounded much better than having a port much smaller than the S1 original design. Cabinet has ~30% less volume than original S1 design.
