DIY Accoustic Panels Completed

Hey

There are some great threads to guide people through building their own panels for sounds absorption. Here are some pics of the ones I built from the help of this section. They have made a huge improvement in my room, I may actually add more over time. The room before the panels, had some real reverb issues. The room is 20 x 40 x 12 and has stained concrete floors so there were hard surfaces everywhere. These panels have managed to absorb nearly all of the reflection issues. I still have some room for improvements.

I used Roxul as my insulation. I framed out each panel using 2x3 boards and backed them with pegboard paneling. The dimensions I used for each small square was 25" x 25"(made 6 of these) and the large was 49" x 49" (made 2 of these) and 25" x 49" (made 1 of these). I used a total of 8 sheets of Roxul that was 2' x 4' x 4". All the fabric to cover these were of course WAF approved and they came out great.

Here are the pics.;);)

Those do look good. I like the relieved edges you got from compressing the portion of the insulation that extended past your frame. Do you have pic's of the build process?

No - unfortunalety not. It was a quick build though I built all of them in about 3 hours, I basically did mitered corners on each frame and predrilled all my screw holes and put wood glue on for extra support. It was my wifes idea to use the 2x3 wood and then have the insulation stick out past the wood frames. It did come out looking good with that approach. It took longer to pick out the fabric than anything else.
