Display Issues with Sony 50" SXRD

I was running the THX setup on the Pixar Incredibles DVD yesterday. I noticed the 16:9 test which has a circle with two square boxes around it, had inconsistencies in the verticle lines of the outer most square. They almost looked disconnected rather than a straight line. It said that this meant that the horizontal and/or verticle settings were off and needed to be reset by a technician. Is this correct? I have been questioning whether or not to exchange out this tv for another new one since it was an open box and it turns out it was built in 9/2005. I got it a bit cheaper than a new one, but I am starting to wonder if it is worth it.

Thanks,

If there is another one of these on display where you bought it, take your DVD and check that geometry.
