722

I would love to try this, I have the vip722 but i cant hook it up to the internet. My computer is all the way on the other side of my house. I do have Wireless throughout my house. Anyway I can hook up the 722 wirelessly? IF so, How?

I've been using the remote access for several months now. Beta version at first.
the best feature as far as I'm concerned is the ability delete several recordings of the same show all at once rather than continuously cycling through the VIP722's menu system.

Yes I really like that myself, and thanks for the reminder, I just cleaned house, I also have a 1TB USB HD hooked up to each which really helps allow more room for recording while not losing any good content.

I seem to record alot of HD concert and HD movies.

It would be nice if they would allow you to transfer to the external HD over the WEB interface.... Or am I missing that?

I also have a 1 TB HD hooked up to my receiver. I don't think the HD is accessible via remote access.

I'm really not trying to access it, just unload material over to it... Don't really see why that would present a problem, but its no big deal... I can do it at home... :D

Def enjoying messing with this while I'm at work... I occasionally watch educational channels on TV at work, and when I see a commercial for a good show coming up, I would like to set it to record, but I would always forget by the time I get home....

Seems all I can think about is gett a couple cocktails in me !! :D

Find yourself an inexpensive "ethernet wireless adapter"

This is a good one, if you can find one...
http://www.amazon.com/ROBOTICS-802-11G-GAMING-ADAPTER-USR5430/dp/B0001UEHKS

All you would have to do is hook it up and your good to go....

here's another 170405596862
I noticed that these wireless adapters say that the network has to be open or if encrypted it has to be WEP? What does that mean because my Linksys is Encrypted, just not sure what WEP is.

There are a few wireless encryption types, and it depends on what router you have and which encryption type you chose upon setup....

WEP is one form of encryption, and the newer ones are more secure.

There used to be alot of network hacking when wireless first came out, but now that it is everywhere I don't really feel its all that important to make things so incredibly secure, but I guess it all depends how much you are concerned with having the latest most secure WiFi in your location. And what you have at stake when choosing a form of protection.

I run WEP at my house because I really don't have neighbors, and I don't have alot of people parking on the road or hanging out in my woods to steal my WiFi... YMMV
