Dirt cheap AMP with optical in?

So I want to basically just get a better sound out of my TV. I got the speakers, now I just need an amp, it doesn't have to be anything fancy. Features:

- SPDIF optical in
- Stereo out 15 watt minimum

I don't want used amps with crappy POTs, I've been there before.
So I prefer a T-Amp that's new.

My budget, i'd say about 60$
Possible?

used avr would probably be your best bet. practically anything with dts support will do.

For improving the sound out of a TV, on a budget of $60, that's a tight window.
My first thought for budget improvement would be a soundbar.
It may work out that a decent soundbar will get you better sound for less work and dollars.
I know they make them under $100.

Normally I would not recommend a soundbar, but it sounds like that would work for what you're looking to do.

There are cheap DAC's that will allow one to go from an optical input to an RCA output. Then you could use any amp/receiver. A used AVR is also a good choice. Peace and goodwill.

OP is already has speakers. He asked for Amp (with dac obviously), he also needs a pre-amp - so together used avr is cheapest way to go on $60 budget. I am willing to bet if OP is in US he could definitely get it from craigslist
