I had my 36 inch analog Proscan television ISF'ed calibrated about 5 years ago. Recently I watch a movie on a friend's 16 X 9 television and noticed that on a widescreen dvd, he was getting more of a picture than I was. I am not talking size but ratio.
A few days later I went back to his house with my copy of DVE, and we when through the calibration chapters (tv set to 4 X 3 for comparative purposes), during the overscan section we notice that edges on the screen were measured 5 1/2 in all directions. So we then went back to my place and pull up the overscan section and my set measured 5. Making people and objects a little fatter, than on his display. We adjusted the geometry setting to have reach 5 1/2, but this caused problem with the display not filled to the edge to the screen.
So here are my questions: Should the overscan picture be equal on all sets? On your sets, screen, monitors, where does the overscan picture measure to?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
