Digital to Coaxial converter problems

So I took the plunge and upgraded from a HTIAB (Logitech Z906) to a full-on setup.

The receiver I'm using is a Denon AVR E400. Unfortunately, it only has one optical input. I need two -- one for PC audio (HD antenna) and one for an HTPC.

I tried to use an active optical-to-coaxial converter box to convert the TV audio from optical to coaxial -- it's what I used to do with my Logitech Z906. But for some reason, I'm not getting any sound. I switched out all the cables, and I actually went and bought a second convertor box because I know they can be fickle, but still nothing.

Is there some setting I need to change? Or does the converted signal not work with the Denon receiver for some reason? There could be something wrong with the coaxial connection on the Denon, but I don't know, because I own nothing that's natively coaxial-compatible.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi. A couple of things come to mind to make sure that it's not a setting issue on the Denon (I also have the E400):

1. Make sure that the coax jack is assigned to the input source that you're selecting. "CBL/SAT" is the default for that coax jack. Check out pages 112-113 in the manual for that.
2. Make sure that the input mode is set up to use that digital input (page 114 of the manual).

TV audio is set to coax.

Input mode, I'm not sure -- the receiver GUI overlay won't show up in TV mode. FWIW, the little digital light indicator does show up.

Hmmm. Silly question - does your TV have ARC? (I say "TV" because you mention a TV, even though your original statement said "PC audio" for your HD Antenna.)

I have a Panny VT60, which was very expensive, so I assume so. I'll dig into it. Yeah that was a typo, I meant TV audio. I'm running an optical cable from the Panny to a convertor box, then to the Denon's coax input. I'm running another optical cable from my HTPC to the Denon's actual optical input.
