Digital out or analog out on cd player?

So what are peoples opinions of running the analog out of their cd players or the digital out of their cd player to their reciever. I personally have always run the digital out on mine because I have a Sony STR-DA5000ES which is all digital, so I figure what is the point of running the analog output if it is just going to have to be converted back again to digital in the reciever. But maybe people with analog power sections like running the analog out better?. Any thoughts about any of that?

Depends on which one has better processing. If your CD player isn't worth mentioning, I'd stick with digital.

I have both connected because I have some mp3 formatted discs and they will not play via digital outs but rather analog due to copyright laws.

I have a Sony DVD player that is about 3 or 4 years old. So it's not terrible, but nothing to write home about. I was just trying to get a feel of what other people were doing.

What j garcia wrote is about the best advice you'll get. Otherwise, try both the analog and digital connections and listen for what sounds best. jffr...Your failure to mention the dvd model makes it impossible to discern which unit has better processors. Go Badgers!

Is that why people buy expensive cd players? For the D/A converters?

I think people buy higher end players for better sound and picture quality...not better components. But invariably, better sound and pq is obtained through better components (processors, clock, power supply, etc.).
