PrologicII is a DSP for stereo and surround encoded material and THX is a post process that "helps" theoretically, and can be applied to any digital format, though I don't like the way it sounds so I don't use it. www.thx.com and also www.dts.com

It is also a standardization process to achieve and get closer to what was recorded at the studio.
