I hoping this update can also be applied to the SMS-1.

DD ver. 2.2

I spent yesterday afternoon installing and running the new version 2.2 software for my DD-18. If you have a DD series sub you should definitely take the time and do this. Unfortunately, the DD’s use a serial RS232 interface and in case you didn’t notice, most laptops these days don’t have serial ports on them and the USB to serial port converters are a hassle, so I had to drag my desktop unit down stairs to the sub.

Well I’m glad I did. The response graph has gone from looking like a topographical map of the Rocky Mountains, to a nice flat (+- 3db) from 15Hz to 100Hz +. Really an amazing difference. I now have two listening positions with a flat graph where I had only one “sweet spot” before. The ability to store different EQ setups for the individual presets, defeatable low-pass crossover and the overlay of previous graph are very useful upgrade features.

For me, upgrades like this really establish the value of a product and justify the initial expense. Nice job Velodyne!

Comes with a warning. If your Sub isn't up to it, probably best not to apply the update.
WOW--not many subs could handle 5 Hz and that appeared to be the only benefit--I was hoping that a decent auto equalization would be implemented.

Cool, glad the MKV-15 is more than up to the task, registering well over 100dB at 10Hz. Sure a lot is THD, but at 10Hz who cares, nothing really audible just shaking the floor and furniture (in fact there is practically no sound at all including the shaking of the furniture, but you can FEEL it and see it on the meter). ;)
Anyway, most subs can't even produce 10Hz or lower which is why most will have their own limiters and/or subsonic filters in the amp so I doubt most would have anything to worry about. Either it can produce down that low or it can't. It's not like it's going to make your sub bottom out (unless it does not have it's own filter and can't handle it). But those of us with capable subs it is nice to know we can basically defeat the filter (which currently is 15Hz at it's lowest) in the SMS-1. :)

P.S. I wish they would have improved the auto-eq too. :( Oh well, just have to put a little more effort into it.

Appears not to be true since the site says NOT for the SMS-1.
IF you scroll down to the very bottom, you can find ver 2.12 for the SMS-1...
