Different types of sound Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon

I've heard good things about these three receivers from multiple sources. Some say the Onkyo has a warmer sound; other stress the quality a Yamaha produces with HT. And then there's the Denon which I've just recently started coming across positive comments.

What are some of the strengths and weaknesses of these 3 receivers?
Onkyo SR502
Yamaha RX-V550
Denon 1705

All three receivers this website suggests in one way or another. (Onkyo/Yam for specific level systems. 1k, and 3k...) and then the Denon as a great holiday gift.

I'm going to be hopefuly getting a chance to listen to a few receivers tomorrow, but I don't know if I will get the chance to use my speakers with it.

I would not be concerned with the sound quality of modern components, unless there is DBT data supporting some claims, credible that can be replicated by others.
You should look to its flexibility to meet your needs now and tomorrow, its ability to drive youyr speaker you want to drive, and your room size as that would have an effect on power needs.
