Difference between J,S,H APC Home Theater units

I have a friend with very bad power in his apartment. It's not something that simple noise filtration will help. For example, turning on his kitchen light causes his receiver to stop producing sound for a second.

Since having his place rewired isn't an option, nor is moving (new lease), I recommended the APC units I read about here. However, I can't seem to figure out the differences between the S, H, and J units. Seems the S is the top of the line, but way out of his budget at $1500.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The S Series are also battery backup units. The J and H are not.

APC gear

Acurtas,
I have been looking into the APC A/V power gear and the H series seams like a good entry level option. It filters and regulates the output so the A/V gear will see a 120 V sign wave with a range of incomming voltages. For power outages, the J and H series would protect a projection set from a sudden loss of power and shorten the bulb life.

Concerning lighting and noise here are some suggestions. Dimmers and florescent lighting are prone to generating noise so replacing or upgrading fixtures and switches could reduce the problem.

See I thought that, but the APC site has both the S and J listed under AV Power Conditioners with Battery

I do see now that the H is definitely no battery.

It also seems as though the S is still Vaporware -- but for the life of me, I can't figure out what's different.
You have to go to their "specialty" AV web site:

I know there are those around here that will disagree with me, but I'd still take one of their SmartUPS units instead. Also available in rack mount units.
