there are numerous issues to overcome for this to be achieved. We are reaching the limits of silicon based semiconductors. Though there are some crazy thoughts like using manufactured diamonds. :) Still a single computer has the computation ability of a lizard brain. :D

Arthur Clarke wrote about the use of diamonds for space elevators in a couple of his novels, which was based on some scientific research that dates back to the 1960s/70s.
