Did Oppo put gold in them thar chassis?

I went on EBay to look at Oppos and the prices are f'in nuts. A BDP-83 which I picked up for $15 Cdn at a good will shop is listed for $220 US. It works great but its no better in audio and video than my Sony 4K and Yamaha BuRay players.

I don't know but they should have put in better electronics.

I've never noticed Oppo as being any better than a higher end Sony. As a matter of fact, I had two Oppos throughout the years and both failed slightly after the 1 year warranty was up.

Have you seen the cost of 203/205's? Some on Audiogon are asking over $4k for an Oppo 205 and at least $1500+ for 203's. And people are paying that!!
