So I ordered the 12ft Velocity Digital COAX AUDIO CBL from Impact Acoustics, only to find that I have something I totally did not expect.

The cable has two female ends on both sides, and each end has 12 tiny little holes. I was expecting both ends to be banana-like pins.

What I intended for this cable was to use it as SPDIF cable to pass the sound from my computer to my receiver. Did I order the wrong cable (the invoice says 12ft Velocity Digital COAX AUDIO CBL) ? Is this the right cable and am I just a big 'ol n00b?

Whatever it is, I can't hook this up to my sound card, and my receiver can't accept it either. Can someone enlighten me? Did Imact Acoustics send me the wrong part or did I screw up and order the wrong part? If I did mess up, what part SHOULD I be ordering (I can't use a TOSLINK cable because my Audigy2 only has a COAX out for digital)?

Here are all the gory details:

Material/Description:
29116 12 ft VELOCITY DIGITAL COAX AUDIO CBL

Bin Location
5-I-2-C

Storage Location
1100

I believe this is what I ordered:

http://www.impactacoustics.com/product.asp?cat_id=902&sku=29116&engine=celebros&keyword=

(but the cable pictured there does not look anything like the cable I have)

On the cable I have it has the following printed on it:

E119932 AWM 2919 80[deg Celsius] 30V VW-1 LOW VOLTAGE COMPUTER CABLE LL84201 CSA AWM

I can take a pic of the cable if you think that would help...

I just wanted to confirm that I am not being a complete moron before calling them up (maybe the end cap is removable or something!). Anyway, I did call them up and the guy at the other end seemed to think that it was indeed an error on their part.

As dissapointed as I am about the mix-up,I was nevertheless impressed when they told me to keep the cable and that they will ship out a new cable using expedited shipping so that I can get it by Monday.

Now that's pretty impressive service.

Now, this could be more of a curse than a blessing.

Now all you have to is go and buy two pieces of gear to put on either end of this "free" cable... :D

It does show good service on their part, though. ...very professional.

Clint, thanks for the help, and I am glad to give put in a good word for those guys, when I know they deserve it and are looking to further the customer experience. It's clear they care!

From the description you gave:

It sounds to me like they accidently sent you one of their RapidRun Runner cables. If you held onto the cable you migh visit theor web site and review the RapidRun cable system. Buy a couple break-aways and you can turn that Runner cable into anything you need for your home theater.
