Did I break my HTR-6160 (no sound at mains)

Semi-newbie here....

I've had this receiver for about 4 months now and everything has worked fine up until tonight when I lost any signal at the Front L & R speaker connections of the 6160. Here's the scenario:

I recently bought a very nice old Hafler 9505 250 w/channel power amp and tonight I hooked it up to my front speakers (Definitive Technology BP30's) via the 6160 preouts and see what that sounded like.

I was doing comparisons going back and forth between the Hafler and the 6160's regular speaker outputs. I was careful to always disconnect the power amp and speaker cables before plugging the speakers back into the 6160. At one point, maybe the fifth time I switched, when I plugged the speakers back into the 6160, I got no sound at all. I checked the speakers out and they work fine if I connect up the Hafler. I never heard any weird noises or saw any evidence of a short or anything like that.

Is there something I might have overlooked? Is it possible to "break" these connectors somehow? All the other channels are working OK, but both Left and Right front/main speaker connectors are dead, or appear so anyway.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Was the receiver on while you where making and breaking connections?

Make sure you connected the speakers back to the Speaker A terminals, recheck the wiring configuration (make sure you didn't connect one set of speaker leads to both positive terminals and the other to the two negative terminals). Also check to see if speaker A is on, not zone B. If you still get no sound from A try connecting the speakers to B and running the B section.

Mmmm... yes. I have a feeling this is not OK?

Yeesssssss!  Somehow when moving the receiver and amp around making connections, I must have pushed the "Speaker A" switch.

Double embarassed, but relieved to have things working again. Thanks, Seth!

Good, I am glad it was something simple and not expensive.;)

Also, it's never recommended to make and break connections while an amplifier or receiver is on.:)
