Did anyone go to Sean Olive's Course at CES?

Seriously, I have no life.
Yes, I did. It was an excellent 6.5 hour course in the science of subjective evaluation of sound reproduction and listener training. But don't take my word since I am biased :)
You took your own course? Have you perfected time travel?:D

Got any tips on that- I have been working on being able to travel through time for quite a while and it's obvious that I'm not done. However, if you see this comment disappear,.....

Did you shoot a video and/or will you be taking this on the road?

I don't know if video (plus samples) will be sufficient, but I'll take it over lack of actual training session near by NYC  (Which I'd love to attend if ever becomes reality)

No, I didn't shoot a video, but putting the course into a video format for on or off-line distribution is not a bad idea. I would also like to turn this into a CEDIA course, if there was sufficient interest. I think there is a real need to educate people about the quality of sound recording/reproduction.

You might want to look into the CEDIA Audio Setup and Calibration class, if it's still offered. I went to that in '05 and it was terrible. If a practical course could be designed for people in the field, it would help a lot of installers. Because of the difficulties in determining loads, signal chain and other basic issues, the guys I worked with and attended that class with were basically lost. They had no basic acoustics or audio background. which meant they mainly pulled wires and cut holes, made connections and terminated wires but didn't actually do much final setup and system performance checks. The class we went to didn't address these at all and the speaker spent more time telling us how cool he and his company were than offering useful information.

For many, a lesson in critical listening wouldn't be a bad thing- not only will it help people to know what to listen for, it will also help them hear sonic problems that they may not have noticed before, like polarity reversals, holes in the response, standing waves and room modes.
