I totally agree that is crazy, HOWEVER, they wouldn't make them if people didn't buy them.

That's just ridiculous, but some people will pay for it just because they think it's better than the competition, or just because they want everything in their rack to match as much as possible. I can't believe it has dual HDMI outs, one for audio, and one for video... Denon is going nuts.

It is nuts for us poor guys, but perfectly normal for those rich bastards.:D

Yeah, if I were a millionaire, there is no way I would buy an oppo; I would buy this Denon player for $4,500.

And then when Mark Levinson comes out with a $20,000 BD player that performs as well as the Oppo:D, I would get that Mark Levinson BD player.

Now you know that if you weren't so into the HTPC thing right now, you would be selling your current denon player and getting that :D

ps. I got my blu ray burner on the way ;)

There's a market for it. We all have our loves and pay more than we should just to get the thing we really want.... for whatever reason.

**hee**hee

Yeah, I'm still into the HTPC thingy. Two of them.:D
I even have 2 bluetooth LogiTech PS3 Keyboards (w/touchpad) for each HTPC.:D

I think computers are A LOT more challenging than Home Theater.

By the way, PowerDVD 8 & 9 both have MLP - Meridean Lossless Packing for DVD-Audio playback.

So now you can play SACD (CD hybrid part), DVD-Audio, CD, DVD, HDDVD (Power DVD 7), and BLU-RAY on your computer.:D

As soon as ASUS comes out with their new motherboard that has TrueHD & DTS-HD MA, who needs anything else but HTPC?:D

Then I will have 3 HTPCs.:D:eek:

I now have over 150 blu-ray movies on my Hard Drives.:D

No, I don't need this new flagship Denon BD player since I'm not rich.:)

Just got the blu ray drive installed last night, and so far everything is working pretty good, had to update my video drivers, and patched PowerDVD 9, and upgrade my Daemon-Tools, and it works great... so long as I run anydvd HD in the background.

I still have lots of tinkering to do, but I think I made a good investment. Gonna have to see how these rips play on my HTPC, or how difficult it will be to convert the files to ps3 streamable files.

Computers are a lot more challenging to use than any Denon BD players.
But the rewards of being able to overcome those challeges are great.:D

What is PS3 streaming for? I know it must be related to the Sony PS3, but I don't know exactly what.:D

I guess if you have the new Denon fancy BD player, you don't have to worry about software & compatibility.

Like how PowerDVD 8 works great on my laptop HTPC, but PowerDVD 9 does Not.

And how PowerDVD 8 does NOT work on my desktop HTPC, but PowerDVD9 works great.

Well, same thing for the new Oppo BD Universal player, but this thread is about the Denon.:D

So to sum it up, HTPC "Universal" (SACD hybrid/DVD-A/BD) vs. Denon Universal BD player - Denon costs a lot more, but has less headaches.:D

I can stream all types of media from my PS3 using different media servers running on my PC, so I don't have to put a dvd/blu ray/cd/flash disk, etc... into the PS3. I have one program that lets me view dvd .iso files that are on my PC, but it doesn't let me view blu ray .iso files... however there is a program out there that will let you convert the ripped blu ray files to a format that the PS3 does support so you can stream them from a PC, but I haven't had a chance to mess with any of that yet since I just got the drive installed yesterday.
