Out of the Onkyo and the Denon I like the Denon. There is nothing wrong with either but I have more experiene with the Denon and feel more comfortable suggesting it. If you throw the Pioneer into the mix I'd say it is the top performer and has more features, but I don't have as much experience with it. All three are excellent receivers and you've really narrowed your choices down well in the entry/mid level market. Welcome to the forum.

I agree with Takereasy but my experience is with Onkyo. I have never had any problems with Onkyo, so I stick with them. We all have our brand preferences that come from years of experience with a particular maker, but you really can't go wrong with any of them.

I would suggest reading the user manuals on the web to get a feel for what features each receiver offers and how easy it will be to use before you decide.

IMHO, the 1015 is leaps and bounds over the Denon and Onkyo models listed. The 1015 has a much larger power supply, transformer, and heat sink which yields cleaner sound during demanding peaks, as well as better low end response.

I own an Onkyo TX-SR602 and I'm pretty satisfied with it. I'm using it in a smallish room to drive relatively easy speakers (8 ohm, 92 db). I never tried its auto setup, I tweaked it as best as I could myself. The lack of pre-outs (except for sub, obviously) is annoying, but may not matter to you; the Denon AVR-1905 does have pre-outs. It has more digital audio inputs than the AVR-1905, if that's important to you. The AVR-1905 up-converts to component, the TX-SR602 does not. Occasionally, I'll try to use the OSD on my TX-SR602 while using the component output, which is mildly annoying, as it can't do it; I think the AVR-1905 can. I don't know what remote the AVR-1905 comes with, but I actually really like the TX-SR602's remote (either way, you can replace a remote easily). I have not used the AVR-1905, so no comment on ease of use. However, the TX-SR602 is one of the easiest-to-use receivers I have used.
