Ok - I am a newbie, based in UK, and I have tried trawling through myriad posts (including the one on the Mac/Burger king etc. about posting), but I have not found information to answer my question so here goes.

I dont have any HT setup right now, and this is the first rig I am putting together. I am BAD at DIY so need something simple. Not fussed too much about video upscaling etc, need something to drive a good 5.1 system, with loads of clean bass and sound good on music too.

After a lot of search, I have settled on the Miller & Kreisel speakers. Planning on the K15s for the front left/right and the center (rated 150w max, 8ohms), the K4 tripoles for the back (rated similarly), and a MX-700 sub (200w max). However, the amp/receiver still eludes me.

The choices which have been suggested by the hi-fi places are:

1. Arcam AVR 250
2. Harman Kardon AVR 7300
3. Yamaha RXV 2600
4. Denon AVR 3806

My questions are as follows:

1. Which one do you think is better given my requirements?
2. Given that I am not fussed about video upscaling, would it make sense to get something cheaper like a Denon 2805 without the HDMI stuff? Would it be able to handle the output?
3. Is it better to have an amp/receiver rated at a power output more than the speakers maximum or below?

And any other advice which might help me! I intend to buy the speakers in the US (M&K do a worldwide warranty), and the amp/receiver in the UK (no worldwide warranty on that...).

Thanks in advance to everyone who reads through this post and then posts something helpful!!!

Cheers
